Acute Muscle and Ligament Injury

Home / Services / Acute Muscle and Ligament Injury

The frustration of pulling a muscle or damaging a ligament when playing sport can lead to a sometimes prolonged rehabilitation and a tendency to re-injure the area when attempting to return to sport. Sometimes the advice to ‘rest for a few weeks’ leads to a frustrating cycle of re-injury, persistent symptoms and a delay in returning to sport.

If muscle injuries are treated promptly and effectively it can reduce the time needed out of sport, whilst actively managing the problem to maintain fitness and reduce the risk of recurrence. Often the degree of damage can be assessed in the clinic using diagnostic ultrasound and a management plan worked out to suit all levels of exercise and competition.
